Second Atlas Autodesk University Event a Success

Sunday 23rd January 2011

For a second year running, Atlas organized the Vietnam Autodesk University (AU) Extension Event, bringing world leading training on Revit and BIM collaboration tools to Ho Chi Minh City. Every year, Autodesk hold an AU user conference in Las Vegas, however not everyone can make it to the event. The global Authorised Training Centre (ATC) network brings Las Vegas to local communities by relaying the expert training content at AU Extension events.

As Vietnam’s first and only ATC, Atlas promotes high quality training as well as industry best practice among users. The AU Extension affords the Atlas training team the chance to organise and host a free event for Revit users from around the country where recent software developments and productivity tips and tricks can be explored in an open forum.

In a departure from last year’s format, the Atlas training team invited leading instructors to deliver live presentations on Revit and the use of BIM globally to supplement the video lecture recorded in Las Vegas. Professor Thien from the University of Architecture delivered the opening keynote presentation, exploring the use of BIM in Vietnam today, and some of the critical reasons for its adoption. Matt Rumbelow from Atlas delivered an insightful presentation on some of the most recent large scale projects modelled in Revit. Matt also gave a lecture on collaborative BIM tools which can be used to communicate design ideas between project stakeholders.

This year’s event was held in the Duxton Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City, and attracted over 80 participants from 41 different companies across Vietnam. Feedback from the event was positive, and attendees remarked, “The event was a great chance for me to gain more knowledge and experience of using Revit from other users in Vietnam”. The Atlas training team was pleased to bring together such a diverse range of users, including MEP engineers, structural engineers and architects, and look forward to running similar events in the future.

The AU Extension was hosted on the same day as the Vietnam BIM Roundtable, also organised by Atlas. Both events are part of the wider goal of Atlas to support the adoption of BIM within the AEC industry. Atlas focuses on providing innovative project resourcing solutions and delivery consultation to the world’s leading practices.
