In 2018 Atlas recruited BIM and R&D specialist Chris Smeaton to develop its global landscape and urban planning practice. Chris is a member of the Landscape Institute’s Digital Practice Group which sets standards and workflows within the UK across all landscape architects.

Atlas is now working on projects globally and we are delighted to be inspiring others to use BIM for their own landscaping designs. In April 2019, Assael Exteriors – a division of architecture and design practice Assael Architecture – asked Chris to share his passion and expertise with their UK team.

Chris comments, “I am always delighted to work with other passionate BIM practitioners. I chair a LinkedIn group where BIM enthusiasts share queries and skills and it’s clear this is a growth area for BIM. Atlas takes its training responsibilities seriously. As an authorised Autodesk and Graphisoft training provider Atlas takes training seriously – whether for our own staff, for our clients or for new contacts like Assael Exteriors.”

Graduate Landscape Architect Hannah Mellor from Assael Architecture’s Exteriors team thanked Chris. “Chris was a great teacher and his passion and excitement for expanding BIM into the realm of landscape is indisputable. It was a pleasure to learn new tricks and work flow techniques in Revit and as Assael Exteriors’ continue to work on a range of complex and challenging schemes, the knowledge will be invaluable. Thank you again, Chris!”
