R&D Manager

Role &
Responsibilities
  • Manage, develop, and motivate the R&D team to achieve project and innovation goals.
  • Actively participate in day-to-day R&D activities: directly contribute to designing, developing, and implementing digital solutions, systems, and tools relevant to AEC.
  • Work hands-on with your team in building, testing, and optimizing prototypes, workflows, and automation processes; take ownership of key deliverables.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and mentoring of R&D staff; foster professional growth and a high-performance culture.
  • Plan, allocate, and monitor resources to ensure timely and quality delivery of R&D projects.
  • Collaborate across departments to identify business needs and translate them into practical R&D solutions; ensure effective integration of R&D outcomes into production and client delivery.
  • Drive research and adoption of emerging technologies relevant to AEC, especially AI, automation, and data analytics.
  • Establish, document, and continuously improve R&D systems, standards, and best practices for the team and wider company.
  • Promote and uphold best practices in software development, process improvement, and technical standards within the team.
  • Monitor project progress, provide regular updates to leadership and ensure effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Organize and participate in technical workshops, seminars, and knowledge-sharing sessions within Atlas and with external partners.
  • Ensure all outputs meet Atlas’ quality standards, maintain data confidentiality, and deliver value to clients.
  • Support a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability in line with Atlas’ values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by line manager or Management to support business needs.

  • Timely, high-quality delivery of R&D projects and initiatives.
  • Effective team building, staff development, and retention.
  • Achievement of innovation and technology adoption targets across Atlas departments.
  • High levels of internal client satisfaction and value-add to Atlas’ business.

Requirements

Qualifications, Skill, Knowledge & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • At least 7 years of relevant R&D or technical experience, with proven ability to lead and manage technical teams.
  • Strong experience in resource planning, project management, and delivering multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Practical experience with programming languages (C#, Python, JavaScript, C/C++, Java or similar), and BIM APIs (e.g., Revit API, ArchiCAD GDL).
  • Proficient with AEC industry software/technologies (Revit, Rhino, BIM platforms).
  • Experience with 3D modeling, visualization, and AR/VR tools (Unity, Unreal, 3ds Max, Maya, Blender); familiarity with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering innovative products, tools, or workflows adopted into production or client solutions.
  • Knowledge of international industry standards, codes, and best practices in digital delivery and R&D.
  • Proficient in MS Office and analytical tools.
