Leadership Announcement: Dr. Akira Hosomi to Lead Asia Transport Projects

Akira Hosomi is a highly experienced railway and public transport specialist with extensive expertise in the transportation sector. He is based in Ho Chi Minh City and supports the development of Atlas’s Japanese projects and clients. His impressive academic qualifications include master’s degrees in Transport Planning and Urban Planning, as well as Doctor of Engineering in Built Environment.

Dr Hosomi has a 25-year track record of consultation and major development work that includes operation, regulatory and maintenance oversight of significant rail infrastructure such as the recent HCMC Urban Railway Line-1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) and Jakarta’s MRT North-South Line (JICA ODA). He also spent nearly 20 years in Vietnam with overall responsibility for railway development for Japan Railway Technical Service (JARTS) and Japan International Consultants for Transportation Co., Ltd. (JIC).

As such Dr Hosomi has spent a large part of his career to date in SE Asia, developing in that time an intimate knowledge of construction planning protocols and best practice in this region.
