BIM Migration & Training

Hong Kong

A global property owner partnered with our team to translate their digital strategy into a sustainable, actionable plan for future investment and delivery. With a commitment to implementing BIM to improve efficiency across time, cost, and material utilisation, the client sought a structured approach to embedding BIM into their project delivery processes.

Working closely with stakeholders, a comprehensive BIM Implementation Roadmap was developed to align owners, consultants, and contractors through an integrated construction information management framework. The scope included the development of tailored BIM standard documents and the delivery of targeted training to ensure stakeholders clearly understood the client’s BIM vision, roadmap, documentation, and digital platforms—laying the foundation for consistent, scalable BIM adoption across the portfolio.

Express Rail Link Terminus Superstructure

Hong Kong

This project involved a new express rail link terminus featuring a landmark entrance hall with a 200-metre-long by 75-metre-wide roof of complex geometry, supported by distinctive clad mega columns. The 100,000 m² front-of-house area accommodates 70 retail concessions within a central concourse atrium.

Supporting the client’s design of the superstructure, roof and façade systems, we provided structural modelling and documentation services. Using MicroStation, we delivered a full set of reinforced concrete construction drawings. BIM services included developing 3D models in Revit and Tekla to resolve clashes and reinforcement congestion within the complex structural forms. We also assisted with reinforcement calculations for columns, beams and slabs using the client’s Robot analysis model, helping ensure buildable, high-quality outcomes within budget and tolerance constraints.

Hong Kong Airport T1 Annexe

Hong Kong

To support the design, construction and asset management of Hong Kong Airport’s new 30,000 m2 Annexe building, we delivered coordinated LOD 300 and LOD 350 BIM models incorporating architectural, structural, MEP (4), façade and civil disciplines.

Developed from 2D CAD information, the integrated Revit model was produced by a multidisciplinary team within a four-week programme, resolving clashes and construction challenges as the design progressed.

The coordinated BIM models were used by the main contractor during construction, while a millimetre-accurate point cloud survey informed a data-rich as-built model for digital walk-throughs and ongoing asset management. In parallel, we provided BIM training to AAHK teams in Hong Kong and Vietnam, helping build internal capability for the wider Three Runway System expansion programme.

Hong Kong Airport T2 Gate 219

Hong Kong

Engaged by the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) we delivered a point cloud-to-as-built BIM proof of concept model for selected areas. The project involved developing a LOD 500 Revit model directly from point cloud data, without reliance on IFC 2D CAD information, with COBie-compliant asset data and Enscape material finishes applied.

Hong Kong International Airport T1 Expansion As-Builts

Hong Kong

We were appointed by the Airport Authority Hong Kong to deliver an as-built asset rich BIM model of Terminal 1. The as-built model was to be used for asset and facilities management purposes and as a visualisation and working tool for future development and expansion.

Our scope of work involved multidisciplinary as-built LOD 350 – 500 BIM modelling for 700,000 m2 of existing buildings, including the Terminal 1 main building, link bridges, aircraft loading bridges, ground transportation centre, limousine lounge and associated tunnels, north satellite concourse and skypier.

To create the as-built BIM model, the Airport Authority provided us with thousands of pieces of reference information such as as-built architectural, structural and building services drawings, photos, data schedules, point cloud and panoramic photos.

From the reference information, we created a fully federated LOD 500 as-built BIM model, incorporating architectural, structural, building services, Special Airport Systems, and associated civil/underground utilities.

During the 2-year programme our team validated over 10,000 folders, 500,000 files and 391GB of information, and created and aligned over 3,000,000 BIM geometries.

Atlas is one of few companies in the world with the expertise and capacity to take on such a large project and deliver it to the aggressive programme. We mobilised a large multidisciplinary team to fully model the terminal building in the first 3-months to meet programme requirements. We then continued with model validation against point cloud files and asset tagging.

Hotel Bar Refurbishment

Hong Kong

Working from detailed design information supplied in CAD and PDF formats, we developed an architectural interior design Revit model to support the production of tender documentation for the interior fit-out. Custom 2D and 3D Revit families were created to LOD 250.

The project formed part of a broader hotel rebranding programme and focused on the renovation of a prestigious hotel bar.

Cultural Centre

Hong Kong

We collaborated with a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy to deliver structural and MEP services for a high-profile cultural centre celebrating the rich heritage of Chinese Opera. Our scope included BIM modelling, MEP coordination, and structural design support and documentation through the design development and construction documentation stages.

Coordinated LOD 300 BIM models were produced for MEPF services, supporting design integration and efficient project delivery.

Asset BIM Management

Hong Kong

The client was delivering a pipeline of projects across multiple asset types and required dedicated BIM management support. Working from the client’s headquarters, we collaborated closely with their management team to develop the BIM Execution Plan and provided ongoing BIM management services, including leading BIM coordination meetings.

In addition, we delivered targeted training for internal stakeholders and external consultants, ensuring consistent adoption of BIM management processes across the project portfolio.

Dual Two-Lane Viaduct

Hong Kong

The main contractor awarded the design and build contract for a dual two-lane sea viaduct, with 7 approach viaducts, needed to validate the accuracy and buildability of the developing design while managing significant interface risks with the existing transport infrastructure.

Achieving this required a coordinated BIM model capable of detecting clashes, supporting construction sequencing, and informing safety assessments. The client also needed clear, ongoing coordination across disciplines and a robust approach to maintaining and updating project information.

We provided comprehensive BIM and documentation from LOD 200 to LOD 400 in critical areas supported by integrated civil and structural engineering expertise.

From existing design information, we produced a fully integrated BIM model with particular focus on the viaduct’s critical interfaces with live transport infrastructure. We confirmed the accuracy of the design work, detected clashes and confirmed that the design was buildable. Throughout the project, the model was rigorously maintained and updated. In addition, we supported the design and planning of temporary works and contributed to improvements in the buildability of the permanent works.

One of our team members worked from the client’s project office, enabling close day-to-day coordination with the wider project team, additionally helping support the development of construction programmes, detailed modelling of construction sequencing, and the assessment of health and safety considerations.

At project completion, the Project Director could demonstrate to their Board that collaborating with Atlas contributed to a direct project saving of close to HK$20million.

Data Centres Digitisation

Hong Kong

Data centre buildings were being digitised and the client needed to create accurate, standard aligned MEP BIM models using as-built CAD (.dwg) and PDF drawings.

Our MEP team developed new LOD 300 BIM models for all building services from the ground up, using the supplied as-built information and aligning all outputs with the client’s BIM Standards. To meet the programme, we deployed a dedicated team: six engineers and technicians to model the first data centre over six weeks, and four specialists to deliver the second building over eight weeks. This provided the client with accurate, fully digitised MEP models to support their ongoing asset management.
