An existing two-storey building was being converted into a state-of-the-art data centre, and the client required rapid design and test fits of multiple layout options to support end-user presentations. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we delivered an integrated design service, including BIM model creation and comprehensive MEP design support.

By leveraging time zone differences with the client’s team, we enabled seamless collaboration and near 24-hour production of presentation-ready design drawings, supporting an accelerated programme.

Data centre buildings were being digitised and the client needed to create accurate, standard aligned MEP BIM models using as-built CAD (.dwg) and PDF drawings.

Our MEP team developed new LOD 300 BIM models for all building services from the ground up, using the supplied as-built information and aligning all outputs with the client’s BIM Standards. To meet the programme, we deployed a dedicated team: six engineers and technicians to model the first data centre over six weeks, and four specialists to deliver the second building over eight weeks. This provided the client with accurate, fully digitised MEP models to support their ongoing asset management.

For the first phase of a major digital campus, the client needed a fully coordinated and buildable MEP design. The existing model was developed to 60% detailed design at LOD 300.

We provided comprehensive MEP BIM modelling, documentation, and clash detection and resolution support to bring the detailed design from 60% to 100%. Our team updated the LOD 300 model, undertook full clash coordination and resolution, and produced detailed 2D design drawings.

By delivering a fully coordinated BIM model, we ensured the client had a practical, buildable solution ready for the next phase of this complex digital campus development.

Data Centre Design Template

The client needed to validate and update their standard data centre design template, which had undergone several changes. To move forward with design development for a new facility they required an accurate, up-to-date BIM model and supporting documentation.

We developed a new LOD 300 architectural Revit model using the client’s revised template and incorporated all key design changes to reflect the current requirements. To support the next stage of design development we also produced 2D and 3D detailed design stage drawings. This gave the client a reliable and fully coordinated BIM model to progress the design of their new data centre.
